While at a family gathering, my niece and nephew were playing an imaginative game. They warned me to cover my head with a blanket so I wouldn't get slurped up by a slug! With all the commotion, I did not participate "correctly" and... I was slurped up by a slug.
As it turns out, later that day I did end up in the belly of a slug when I came face to face with many emotions.
I can relate to every experience in this book and hope I can meander into the messiness of people's lives. It can be difficult to be around others when they're down, but slugs need hugs, too.
In my first draft, I tried escaping the slug. Then I realized resisting my emotions was keeping me from joy. I hope you will find the same peace in reading this book that I felt while writing.
